TURKEYFOOT VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Two scholarships are funded through contributions made by H.C. "Joe" Harned to the Community Foundation of Greater Johnstown, D/B/A The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. The Foundation administers the fund for the disbursement through the Turkeyfoot Valley Historical Society. In the amount of $2,500 per year for post-secondary education at an accredited institutions for up to four years ($10,000 total).  The scholarship deadline is April 1 of each year.

Mr. Harned a native of Ursina left this area when he was 17.  At the age of 90 he is still a very vibrant individual and feels strongly about education.  In the Turkeyfoot area, he has established several scholarships to benefit younger generations.  Mr. Harned feels that contributing to education is all about potential and that when he invests in education, he is investing in the potential of our city, nation and maybe even the world.
